An Iranian asylum seeker

Dear Hon Minister,

Having just been provided with the information by the International Federation of Iranian Refugees, I have learnt about the desperate situation of an Iranian asylum seeker, Ardeshir Gholipour currently detained in Baxter detention Centre.

It is sadly brought to my knowledge that this inmate has been detained in Australia for over 5 years, which has shattered him and resulted in him being deeply depressed and anxious.

I put forward my grave concern as to Ardeshir like the other victims of the Iranian repressive regime, has not been treated appropriately by the government, but has dramatically experienced such traumatic situation in the detention centre. Ardeshir had to flee the country due to his social grouping and political activities against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

To protect and allow this asylum seeker benefiting from refugee rights, I respectfully request you to use the ministerial discretion and grant Ardeshir’s application for resettlement here in Australia.
