Resolution passed by the sit-in of Iranian asylum seekers

- Considering that an oppressive government is in power in Iran, which is against any happiness and any form of prosperity for people, a government that during the dark years of its rule has slaughtered more than hundred thousand of people and is  trying non-stop to create a climate of fear and terror in the country;

-  Considering that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a serious obstacle against freedom of speech, assembly, demonstrations, media, strike and organisations;

- Considering that the Islamic regime is culturally a reactionary and backward government that opposes happiness and individual freedoms for Iranian people and has imposed complete sexual apartheid in Iran and also persecutes religious minorities such as Jews and Bahais  and…

- Considering that the Islamic regime is violently and cruelly crushing worker’s fights for trade unions, strike and for their payments, a regime that doesn’t show mercy even towards the children of labour activists and beats them in front of their parents;

And finally given that the Islamic government is a terrorist regime that supports Islamic terrorism throughout the world and has assassinated tens of its dissidents abroad. Given the named reasons and many more examples of inhumane actions of the Islamic Republic of Iran:

We, Iranian asylum seekers who have participated in the sit-in in front of the British parliament announce that:

1-     Iran under the Islamic Republic is not a safe country. No Iranian asylum seeker should be deported to Iran;

2-     There should be an immediate stop to all detentions of Iranian asylum seekers. All those currently in detention in British prisons for the ‘crime’ of seeking asylum should be freed;

3-     Given the obvious violations of civil rights by the Islamic regime of Iran, all the asylum cases of Iranians that have been closed, must be re-opened and be re-considered;

4-     Given the present suppressive nature of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the British government must change its policy towards the asylum seekers and grant them refuge.

1-     We the participants of this sit- in and thousands of other Iranian asylum seekers who live uncertain lives here in the UK, see asylum as our right and demand that the British government to stop pressuring and persecuting us further as we are already victims of inhuman Islamic rule.  We also announce that we will not stop still we achieve all our demands. This three days sit-in is only a step towards stronger and bigger struggles.

We announce that we recognise the International Federation of Iranian Refugees as our representative and we want it to represent us in all international legal bodies.
