International Federation of Iranian Refugees’ 10th Conference ends successfully Mina Ahadi is elected IFIR Executive Director 2 August 2004
Around 200 delegates, members and guests from European countries participated in the International Federation of Iranian Refugees' (IFIR) 10th International Conference entitled 'New World Order and Asylum Rights' in Köln, Germany during 30 July to 1 August 2004. During the 10th Conference, elections for the post of IFIR's Executive Director were held. Mina Ahadi was elected as the new IFIR Executive Director with a significant majority. She is replacing Maryam Namazie who stepped down after eight years of service. Mina Ahadi is a renowned women’s rights activist, coordinator of the International Committee against Stoning, which is an international network of nearly 200 women’s rights and human rights’ organisations and individuals from around the world fighting to save the lives of people sentenced to stoning and for the abolition of the inhuman law of stoning and of retributory punishment. Ahadi is also one of the representatives of the Organisation of Women’s Liberation.
