With theIFIR's intervention , the plan for deporting an Iranian asylum seeker from Sweden was halted

The daily Newspaper of “the metro” has published a detailed report of the Federation’s campaign

Iman bani Saeed is a 25 years Old Iranian refugee in Sweden who has been requesting asylum since 2003 and was at the verge of deportation to Iran. With the efforts of the International Federation of Iranian Refugees – Stockholm unit, he was salvaged from an absolutely certain deportation to Iran.

Iman Bani Saeed was arrested by the officers of Swedish Immigration office while his wife was hospitalized for delivery. The officers first tried to menace and force Iman to cooperate with the Police, and sign a document that says that he is voluntarily willing to go back to Iran. When Iman refused to sign the document, the officers arrested him on Monday the 26th of February and sent him to the detention center of the immigration office to prepare his deportation to Iran. Immediately, Iman’s wife informed the Federation and the spokesman of the federation in Sweden, Kimia Pazooki. Upon being informed about the story, Kimia Pazooki started urgent and extensive actions to save the life of Iman.

Kimia pazooki immediately called the mass media and Persian-speaking radios of Stockholm and asked people to gather and protest in front of Iman’ s detention center . Federation’s activists and protesting people immediately gathered in front of the detention center of the immigration office to stop Iman’s deportation. Officers, who were scared of this gathering, moved Iman to Ptibury to send him to Iran from there. Meanwhile Iman manages to talk with Kimia and tell him about his situation. Kimia gave him specific hints including severe protest in the airplane, telling his story to the pilot and the crew and convincing them to stop cooperating with the police regarding his deportation.

Iman who was at the verge of deportation used Kimia’s suggestions and as a result the pilot announced that he does not accept to take Iman to Iran. Meanwhile Kimia Pazooki contacted an experienced and well-known lawyer and stressing on the urgency of the matter, asked him to accept Iman’s case. Efforts to stop Iman’s deportation was followed minute by minute in the political and legal arena and eventually Iman Bani Saeed was brought back from the airport to the detention center and his urgent deportation order was provisionally suspended. The immigration office was planning to take Iman to the airport for the second time on Friday March the second and deport him to Iran.

During this important campaign, Kimia Pazooki reported Iman’s situation to the popular daily, “The Metro”, and the magazine publishes an interview with Kimia and Iman, showing pictures of both of them. In this article, Kimia mentions that the Swedish immigration office has transformed refugees to their guinea pigs to finalize their plans regarding deportation of Iranian refugees. In this interview, while mentioning about the way Iman was arrested and the effort behind Iman’s deportation, suspects and there must be some agreements between the Swedish and the Islamic government.

The International Federation of Iranian Refugees’ campaign to prevent Iman bani Saeed’s deportation had an extensive repercussion in Sewdish and Persian media in Sweden. Once again we blocked the encroachment of the immigration office and pulled out a refugee from their mouth. IFIR – Sweden branch one more time is emplacing on union and on joining the Federation and is asking all refugees and Iranian refugees to realize that to prevent any secret deals between the Swedish government and the Islamic government to put pressure on refugees to join the Federation not to allow further pressure and deportation.

International Federation Of Iranian Refugees – Sweden unit, while thanking Kimia Pazooki for all his efforts and also thanking all the people who supported us in the campaign and by many means helped this campaign. We are also announcing that until the unconditional release of Iman along with a refugee status, we will continue our efforts and will fight till’ the end.
