Press release
Press
conference on immediate danger of Nazanin Fatehi’s execution
5 January 2007
In respond to “Save Nazanin” campaign; lunched by Nazanin Afshin Jam
& the call from Committee against Capital punishment in Iran, human
rights activists and lawyers push for Nazanin Fatehi’s exoneration.
Iranian communities around the globe are pleading to save Nazanin
Fatehi. Nazanin is condemned to death by the Iranian regime for
acting in self-defense against her rapists. She was 17 when she
stabbed one of 3 men who attempted to rape her and her16 years old
niece. Unfortunately, the man later died in hospital. The Islamic
government of Iran, based on its inhuman Islamic “Sharia law” is
applying the rule of “an eye for an eye” and condemned her to death.
A review trail is set for 10 January 2007.
We strongly believe that this is unjust and must be stopped.
We call for the immediate release of Nazanin Fatehi!
We call for an end to capital punishment in Iran!
We call for the abolition of the reactionary law of blood for blood.
A press conference will be held by Human rights organizations and
lawyers to save Nazanin.
We invite the media to attend this press conference and learn first
hand information on this case and the violation of basic human
rights in Iran.
